Policy

Environmental

Imprimerie Centrale is an SME based in Luxembourg City. It specialises in offset and digital printing, finishing, distribution, and prepress processing of multilingual documents.

Imprimerie Centrale has been committed to the environment for many years, beginning with the SuperDreckskëcht initiative on 1 January 2000.

Over time, our internal approach and our determination to further strengthen our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development have led us to add FSC and Imprim’vert certifications. ISO 14001 certification, in a way, crowns our efforts by providing a framework for our existing actions and enhancing their value.

Governance, policy and environmental commitment

Our quality, environment and sustainable development governance ensures that our entire company complies with the policy defined in this regard.

ISO 14001 certification

ISO 14001 is a globally recognised certification designed to help companies integrate environmental considerations into their activities, reconciling production requirements with respect for the environment, in order to implement environmental management.

Imprim’Vert® (since 2008)

The Imprim’Vert® label stands for:

A commitment to reducing the environmental impacts linked to printing activities

A network supporting printers in their environmental approach

A results-based commitment guaranteed by a set of specifications.

Imprimerie Centrale holds the Imprim’Vert® label, awarded to printers compliant with the legislation on Installations Classified for the Protection of the Environment (ICPE), and audited annually for compliance with hazardous waste disposal rules.

FSC® certification (since 2005)

Imprimerie Centrale obtained FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification for its chain of custody.

FSC is an international label for sustainable forestry. It indicates that products or their derivatives come from sustainably managed forests.

Carbon offsetting

The principle of carbon neutrality consists of fully offsetting (“carbon offsetting”) greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere due to the use of fossil fuels by an organisation or a sector (transport, industrial processes, agricultural practices, waste landfilling, etc.).

This is almost always voluntary offsetting. At Imprimerie Centrale, printing has been carbon-offset since 2011. Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated for each job file.

SuperDrecks Këscht®

SuperDrecksKëscht® (SuperBin) is a brand developed as part of the responsibilities assumed by the Luxembourg State in the field of waste management. It is based on the strategy prescribed by the EU.

This strategy places prevention first, followed by preparation for reuse, recycling and any other recovery (e.g. energy recovery), and finally waste disposal.
